That Intern
I’m Emilie. A girl who always knew she wanted to work in the fashion and lifestyle industries but had no idea how.

I moved to London almost 4 years ago to study a Fashion Journalism degree at the London College of Fashion and quickly realised hands on experience, interning, was essential.
Emailing anyone I could find online working at the magazines I adored, I got lucky with my first internship at InStyle UK magazine during my first term. From there, I went onto intern at publications like Marie Claire, Grazia, The Sunday Times and even the fashion team at ITV’s This Morning.
Balancing a degree, I have also written for The Independent and The Telegraph, and with a couple internships at The Telegraph’s magazines team, I recently got offered a permanent position.
So I wanted to start “That Intern”, a weekly newsletter, to help current interns find their calling and be great at doing it. Although my background is journalism, I hope to deliver the fundamentals and more in being a great intern, no matter your chosen career, be it anything from design to writing.

“That Intern” is a newsletter, offering advice from finding an internship to what to do if you don’t like your current placement. It will cover everything. I also include outfit inspo (with a realistic budget) called ‘The Look’ and ‘The Library’ which includes podcasts, books and even Instagram accounts I think are useful when in the industry.
So I when I say I understand your interning struggles, I do. Because I have been there and want to help.
