London Fashion Weekend

Updated: Apr 19, 2020

This weekend, I took a trip to London for London Fashion Weekend, an event I’ve never been to but heard a lot about.

The event itself wasn’t until 3pm so we took the morning having coffee breaks and exploring London. We went to the Victoria and Albert Museum first for an exhibition, Tim Walker: Wonderful Things.

To be perfectly honest, I knew nothing of his work except he was a photographer, but honestly he is the most amazing fashion photographer, creating personal connections with his subjects with a huge attention to detail. I learned so much and found the whole exhibition truly fascinating. I would 100% recommend visiting if you get the chance, although it closes on 22nd March 2020!

“Fashion photography is the dream department of photography. When you’re a fashion photographer, everything is an illusion from the start. Nothing is real.”

We then spent the rest of the afternoon walking around Covent Garden. We visited the Glossier pop-up which is so aesthetically pleasing, and got a hot chocolate at a vegan cafe. I love supporting locally owned restaurants and cafes, London especially has so much to offer.

In the early evening, we headed over to Victoria House for London Fashion Weekend. We were however quite unfortunate as all catwalk shows were cancelled for the day, we are still slightly unsure as to why. This was a shame as it was something I was really looking forward to, but instead we took a more relaxed approach to the day, something I find you can’t often do in London.

There were so many exhibitors to see, pictured below are some of my favourites. One section was full of designer pieces which I enjoyed looking at and lusting over, if only. There were also a lot of sustainable brands, including swimsuits made of velvet! It was an exciting event but just a shame there was no catwalk involved.

The rest of the evening we spent having dinner at By Chloe, one vegan restaurant I’ve wanted to try for ages, and it did not disappoint. And then we sat in the coach station to rest before our journey home after a long and tiring day.

I really love visiting London and I can’t wait to start the next chapter in my life there, after graduation. I will continue to visit prior to moving there and hope to attend London Fashion Week in September but for now, I’m happy to leave the busy lifestyle behind and come back to the South.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, following my day in London. We want to keep you updated with our journey on our FMP but also anything and everything we can share on our experiences in the fashion world! - Amelia x
